YEAR 9
All Year 9 students will learn in mixed-ability core classes (except Accelerate and Learning Support classes). All option classes are also mixed-ability classes. Students have 4 periods per week of core subjects: English, Health & PE, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. They will also have two option subjects for 5 periods each week and they do 2 options per term (8 in total for the year).
When you enrol for Year 9*, please choose your options:
- At least 2 options from The Arts
- At least 1 option from Learning Languages
- At least 2 options from Technology
- Another 3 options from any of the learning areas
- 1 backup option from any learning area (making 9 options in total)

In-Zone Enrolments for 2026 completed online by the end of Term 3 (Friday 19th September 2025) will ensure that a student's Year 9 option choices can be provided. If enrolments are submitted after this date, option choices cannot be guaranteed.
All Year 10 students are required to take the following core subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health and Physical Education.
Students also choose four half-year options:
- At least 1 option from Technology
- At least 1 option from The Arts
- Another 2 options from any of the learning areas
Year 10 In-Zone enrolments for 2026 will be contacted via e-mail by the Academic Tutor regarding a meeting and their subject selection in mid-November.
Year 11 students (Te Punga - Year 11 Certificate) must study English (Cambridge International IGCSE), Mathematics (Cambridge International IGCSE), at least one Science, and three other subjects.
Year 11 In-Zone enrolments for 2026 will be contacted via e-mail by the Academic Tutor regarding a meeting and their subject selection in mid-November.
Year 12 (NCEA Level 2) students study six subjects - English and Mathematics are recommended.

Year 13 (NCEA Level 3) students study six subjects - English and Mathematics are recommended.
